Merry Wednesday | 12.18.24
I know, I usually post these on Monday, but it’s Wednesday and there has been a lot going on. Can you believe Christmas is one week away?! It just seems like it was March and now December! Kind of wild to think about it. I just wanted to share how joyous this holiday season has been so far. Nothing major, just enjoying the merriment around downtown. I love my city, and Detroit is truly magical at the holidays. Lights always make me feel cozy and happy, so strolling the city streets looking at the lights and the tree and the decorations!
Went out a couple of weeks ago with a friend to brunch and seeing the holiday decorations and did some light shopping. We finished the day with great conversation at the Bar Rotunda in the Book Tower. Last weekend, I went out with another good friend of mine to really get some shopping done. We had a blast! I took her to the Peacock Room for her first time. It just so happened they were having their 13th birthday, and a scavenger hunt. We found all the horseshoes, and come to find out she actually won one of the prizes!! We ate at Presley’s in the David Whitney Building, and went shopping along Woodward. We went to the Book Tower to o to the Bar Rotunda, but it was closed for a wedding cocktail hour. So we ended up going to the rooftop bar, Kamper’s. It was both our first time there, and it was amazing! The view of the city was top tier and the service was pretty exceptional. We tried to catch the Q Line back to her car, but the Red Wings fans had other plans so we had to be creative. That required a stop at The Royce while we waited for our Lyft. It was an overall great day!
This year, one of my goals was to enjoy the season in the city to the fullest. I always wonder what it was like back in the days of the Hudson’s department store and Kern’s in the heyday of downtown shopping. I wanted to recreate that for my own Christmas wish. IT was just magical! I will probably be out again, but definitely will have to go back to Michigan Central to check out their holiday shops and decorations for sure.
I will continue to share all that I get to experience, but there’s so much going on that sometimes it’s hard to get to everything. I share more events on Celebrate the Real Detroit, but no matter where you are enjoy the holiday season and spirit and live in the present.
