We are nearing the end of the first month of the new year, and things have been kind of busy in my world. While looking for some documents on an old computer, I came across a few blogs I forgot I had (that are still active and getting feedback reports). I was shocked at first, but then I read the posts and remembered that I have done some pretty awesome things, collaborated with some interesting people, and was pretty good at writing. I think with working a 9-5 and life has done a complete 180, I seem to have fallen into a creative rut. The world has changed since I wrote these blogs, and perception and interaction is a little different. Lately it has been a goal to restructure and redefine the outcome while keeping true to the personal overall goal to create something to be proud of.
In the process of figuring out the next creative move, I decided to finally work on a project I was supposed to work on with my grandmother before she passed in 2020. Years before that, we discussed her helping me work on something I guess you can call a passion project, and she finally agreed to be photographed with me. Then there was her declining in health, the whole pandemic, and other life stuff. But I really wanted to find a way to honor my grandmother because she was the reason I started cooking and went to culinary school in the first place. That is what my project for this year will be…honoring my grandmother and the purpose she showed me I had.
Here’s to an awesome 2024! I will share the process and work on being more creative and finding that “thing” to get out of my rut.
